Simon King is a Partner at Lakestar and focuses on investments in Deep Tech. He spent 13 years at Octopus Ventures and led the Deep Tech and TechBio teams investing in companies across AI, quantum computing, augmented reality, semiconductor, rockets and drones. Prior to joining Octopus, Simon studied at Cambridge University and then Imperial College London with a background in physics, chemistry and materials including a PhD in plastic electronics.
Simon is also on the Advisory Council for the UK’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, which is the main funding body for engineering and physical sciences research in the UK.
Lakestar is the investment firm founded by Dr. Klaus Hommels in 2012. It has over $6 billion in assets under management, on a platform that spans institutional venture capital funds and personal investments across stages and geographies.
